Funny, because I actually watched the completely uncensored version elsewhere, and only clicked on the version here out of curiosity, only to find most of the gory stuff completely blacked out...

Don’t get me wrong. I understand the sentiment in this case. I just genuinely dislike censorship in any form. It removes some of the discomfort, sure, but I feel like that discomfort is also an important part of the Higurashi experience.

yeah from GOH, i got nightmares from that intestine scene.
But in this episode it was censored but my brain uncensored it.
I got flashbacks of GOH's episode and mixed with this episode while watching this episode.
*GORY Intensifies.

Also at that time i was enjoying my favorite curry rice.
I had two options leave da food and watch the episode, don't watch the ep while eating the food.
but i just couldn't leave the food and anime.
I enjoyed my food while seeing those intestines.

Yeah the censoring is needed at times but hate censoring on certain moments and the censoring is thx to the nswf issues with Sony and Funi with a lot complaints.

Totally agree, I started anime pretty much on the first part of Higurashi and the censorship is bs, if you don't like blood and guts, then don't watch a horror! Could you even imagine Friday the 13th or any live action horror redone with censorship? What would that even be?

I mean, the ironic thing is that the MPAA was so harsh on the Friday the 13th film that what's left of the deaths in many of the middle entries in the series ARE actually the results of censorship. You're seeing edited, reduced versions of inspired kills that have only recently made their ways online through dailies and workprints of the films.

Yeah, it's especially a shame since it was the only good gore moment in this series.
